The Christmas tree rug in our signature design is the latest addition to the damask collection for the festive season. The octagonal Christmas tree rug with the iconic motif from the CHRISTMAS TABLECLOTH unites craftsmanship, quality and nostalgia and celebrates the spirit of Christmas - and is now available in three colors. In Winter Grey the Christmas tree rug takes on an especially elegant look, as the muted grey tones of the winter sky meet each other in the iconic design. The colour forms a splendid base for the Christmas tree in all its glory, whether it is decorated with natural materials, lots of gold and silver or a variety of colours, or in a monochromatic Christmas theme. The colour combination of Blue Gold was taken from the original design proposal from 1975, when the designer had envisioned a blue version of the design. It would be 40 years before this became a reality however.
The subdued blue colour creates a modern look and makes the Christmas tree rug an elegant alternative for laying a classic Christmas rug in slightly more unconventional colours for the benefit of both current and future generations. The deep red variant has been woven in tone-on-tone nuances of the iconic colours of Christmas, giving the rug a simple, classic and stylish appearance creating joy for many years to come.
The Christmas tree rug's motif was designed by Bodil Bødtker-Næss, who was in the inner circle of textile artists around Georg Jensen in the 1970s and who was also the artist responsible for the classic Easter design from the same period. The braided Christmas hearts and stylised spruce twigs have represented the quintessence of the Christmas spirit for more than 40 years, and in many homes, the design is an indispensable part of Christmas. The shape of the Christmas tree rug is highlighted by a charming star, which is also part of the festive season.
The CHRISTMAS design is also available as tablecloths, place mats and table runners. The Christmas tree rug measures 130 x 130 cm 51.18 in. Unfold product before washing and avoid overfilling the washing machine.
Stretch the product gently after washing. We recommend line-drying, it gives a smoother result. Always observe the washing instructions provided on the product. Wash at 60°C (140°F) opens the cotton yarns and it becomes clean.
